Editorial Process
The editorial process of the Brazilian Journal of Digital Signatures and Cryptography aims to ensure the quality, relevance and originality of the published articles, following international best practices for scientific editing. Our editorial flow is structured to provide a rigorous and transparent analysis of each submission, valuing both the scientific contribution and ethics in research. Below, we present the main steps of this flow:
- Manuscript Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's electronic system, which allows for the submission of all required documents, such as the full article, authorship and originality statements. Each submission must follow the journal's formatting guidelines and editorial policies.
- Initial Screening: After submission, the manuscript undergoes an initial screening by the editorial team, which verifies whether the work is in accordance with the journal's focus, scope and technical standards. At this stage, the manuscript is also checked to ensure that it does not present problems of plagiarism or duplicate publication. If the article does not comply with the criteria, it may be rejected or returned to the authors for adjustments.
- Assignment of Reviewers and Peer Review: Manuscripts approved in the initial screening are scheduled for the double-blind peer review process, in which the anonymity of the authors and reviewers is preserved. Two experts in the field of study are appointed as reviewers, and they evaluate the content, methodological quality, originality and scientific contribution of the article.
- Initial Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' opinions, the editor in charge decides whether the manuscript will be accepted, rejected, or returned to the authors for corrections. The reviewers' decision and comments are shared with the authors, who, when necessary, must revise the manuscript and resubmit it for further evaluation.
- Revisions and Reassessments: When reviewers request revisions, the authors have the opportunity to respond to the comments and adjust the manuscript according to the recommendations. The reassessment process continues until the article meets the journal's quality standards, that is, it is considered unsuitable for publication.
- Editing and Preparation for Publication: After final approval, the article goes through the editing and formatting phase, in which the editorial team adjusts technical details, reviews the text for language corrections, and prepares the final layout for publication. The authors review and approve the final version before the article is made available on the journal's website.
- Publication and Dissemination: Approved articles are published in the annual issue of the journal or in special issues, when applicable. All content is made available in open access, ensuring broad visibility and reach of research for the scientific community and other specific readers in the field of digital security.
This editorial flow was designed to guarantee the integrity and excellence of published articles, contributing to the dissemination of scientific knowledge and the advancement of the areas of digital signature, cryptography and information security.
