Privacy Statement

The IBPTECH College Journal, hosted within the institution’s own infrastructure through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, adopts personal data protection practices in compliance with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (LGPD – Law No. 13.709/2018), the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other applicable data protection laws.

By registering, submitting articles, participating in peer review, performing editorial activities, or simply accessing journal content, the user acknowledges and agrees to the following data collection, processing, and usage practices:

1. Data Collected

  • Full name;

  • Institutional affiliation;

  • Email address;

  • Country of residence;

  • Other voluntarily provided contact details (such as telephone number, professional address, ORCID profile, among others);

  • Role in the system (author, reviewer, editor, reader);

  • Biography (optional);

  • IP address;

  • Submission, review, and editorial activity history.

2. Purpose of Data Collection

  • Editorial management and article publication;

  • Communication among authors, editors, reviewers, and readers;

  • Issuance of correspondence and certifications (where applicable);

  • Compilation of access statistics and improvement of user experience;

  • Verification of the authenticity, originality, and integrity of submitted articles and peer reviews, ensuring compliance with ethical and academic standards.

3. Data Sharing

  • Personal data may be internally shared among editors, reviewers, journal managers, and other individuals involved in editorial and production activities;

  • Personal data will not be shared with third parties without explicit consent, except where required by legal or regulatory obligations.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Data is stored on servers protected by IBPTECH College, with appropriate technical and administrative security measures in place.

  • Access to data is restricted to authorized administrators and system users (authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and journal managers), limited to the information necessary to perform their functions and responsibilities within the editorial management framework.

  • Access control measures are adopted aiming to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data, in compliance with applicable legislation.

5. Data Subject Rights

Users have the right to:

  • Confirm the existence of personal data processing;

  • Access, correct, or update their personal data;

  • Request the deletion of their personal data, except for the retention of records related to authorship, peer review, editorial, and publication activities of scientific or technical journals, in accordance with the practices and regulations of higher education institutions.

Data retention is necessary for:

  • Verification of authorship and originality of submitted works;

  • Provision of clarifications in case of disputes or claims concerning published articles or peer reviews;

  • Compliance with legal and regulatory obligations within the editorial context.

This policy complements the IBPTECH College Privacy Notice, which outlines the institution’s general data protection guidelines.

7. Cookies Usage

We use cookies strictly necessary for the proper operation of the platform.
We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes.

8. Sharing with Indexing Services and Libraries

The journal operates on an open-access platform, in line with the principles of open science and free access to academic publications.

By submitting articles, participating in peer review, or engaging in editorial activities, users expressly consent to the sharing of the following information with journal indexing services, digital libraries, academic repositories, and national and international databases:

  • Full name;

  • Institutional affiliation;

  • Professional email address (when required by indexing services);

  • Short biography and other relevant information for cataloging and indexing purposes.

Such sharing aims to:

  • Enhance the visibility of scientific production;

  • Enable the indexing and dissemination of articles and editorial activities;

  • Comply with established academic publishing practices.

Consent for this sharing is a condition for participation in the journal.

9. Agreement with Content Licensing

By submitting articles, participating in peer review, or engaging in editorial activities, users acknowledge and agree that published content will be made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), unless otherwise indicated.

This license allows others to:

  • Share, copy, and redistribute the material in any medium or format;

  • Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the material;

Provided that:

  • Appropriate credit is given to the authors and the source;

  • The material is not used for commercial purposes.

Participation in the editorial processes implies full and unrestricted acceptance of the above licensing terms.
